ETEREO X NILUFAR

The GROTTESCHE mirrors represent a unique and extraordinary work of art that reflects a bold fusion of contrasting styles and materials. Crafted with polychrome marble frames and antiqued mirrors, these pieces challenge classical conventions by reinterpreting Renaissance design in an innovative way. The frame, preserving only a portion of its ancestral shape, is deconstructed and transformed: the regular and rigorous lines of the past give way to fluid, fragmented forms in a striking play of contrasts.

A distinctive feature of the GROTTESCHE mirrors is the choice of materials. The marbles used are sourced from a collection of ancient, no-longer-used stones, reclaimed from blocks abandoned at the edges of Italian quarries. This artistic decision breathes new life into historic materials, giving the works deep cultural and symbolic value. Furthermore, marble—typically rigid and seemingly unworkable—is employed to create frames with sinuous shapes and vibrant colors.

This combination of the marble’s rigidity with the dynamism of the forms represents a bold artistic exploration, capable of capturing attention and arousing the viewer’s curiosity. The GROTTESCHE mirrors are a sublime expression of creativity and ingenuity, perfect for adding a touch of originality and sophistication.
They are exclusively presented at the Nilufar Gallery and are available in a limited edition of just 10 pieces.
